NSSE Publishes Engagement Insights: Annual Results 2022

In early-May, NSSE completed its rollout of three stories informed by data collected from the NSSE 2022 administration cycle. These stories, along with a message from NSSE interim co-directors Jillian Kinzie and Cindy Ann Kilgo, comprise the 2022 edition of Engagement Insights, NSSE’s annual dissemination of selected research findings and institutional stories that have broad relevance to the improvement of undergraduate education. 

On Thursday, May 11, NSSE announced that, for the second consecutive year, early raw data is available to participating institutions. Those administering the 2023 survey now have early access to raw data files downloaded from our online survey facility in a simple CSV format. This is intended to allow institutions to get a jump on assessment, planning, and internal reporting during the spring and summer months before the insights from NSSE Institutional Reports are delivered in August.

Using NSSE to Increase Conversations Among Campus Partners (Marian University)

"We setup an internal Canvas shell and gave access to relevant stakeholders on campus, so they could access the various reports and data before we had the roundtable data share meeting," said, Dr. Ribera.

The Canvas shell was designed three weeks in advance of this meeting, which allowed enough time for all participants across campus to review the reports and data before the meeting. They also utilized the discussion feature on Canvas to allow for conversations and interactions prior to their meeting. At the campus event, they began by discussing the general overview and then divided everyone into smaller groups and discussed areas that had their strengths and needed improvements as well the ideas that were shared through the online Canvas shell. The in-person meeting brough together over 40 faculty, staff members, alumni and students from their campus.
